SOUL MIDWIFERY

INTEGRATING THE SHADOW THROUGH BODY, ESSENCE & ART

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

“The human body, at peace with itself, is more precious than the rarest gem.”
— Tsong Khapa

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is the somatic foundation of my work as a soul midwife.

It is a gentle, listening-based form of bodywork that supports the nervous system as it meets what has been held beneath the surface - shock, grief, unexpressed emotion, early imprints, and moments that never had the chance to fully resolve.

Rather than seeking to correct or fix, this work creates the conditions for integration. It supports the body and psyche to reorganize themselves from within, at their own pace, guided by their own intelligence.

The central nervous system is surrounded and nourished by a subtle system of fluid and membranes known as the craniosacral system. This system expresses gentle rhythms that reflect our state of regulation, safety, and vitality.

In Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, the practitioner listens to these rhythms and to the stillness beneath them, a place where the body remembers how to settle, soften, and restore balance.

This work does not impose change.
It listens for what is already trying to emerge.

Early osteopath Dr. William Sutherland observed that the body is animated by an organizing intelligence he called the Breath of Life, a subtle ordering principle that expresses through:

  • Cerebrospinal fluid

  • The cranial bones

  • The sacrum

  • The central nervous system

When stress, trauma, or overwhelm disrupts this natural movement, the system adapts by holding. Over time, these adaptations can become patterns that affect our physical, emotional, and relational lives.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy supports the system to gently release what no longer serves and to reconnect with this deeper ordering intelligence.

In my experience, stillness is not the absence of movement, it is a threshold.

As the nervous system settles, what has been buried or unfinished may come into awareness: sensations, emotions, memories, images, or insights. This is not something to push toward or analyze, but something to meet with presence and respect.

This is where craniosacral therapy and soul midwifery meet.

This work may be supportive if you are:

  • Navigating grief, loss, or major life transition

  • Living with chronic stress, pain, anxiety, or nervous system overwhelm

  • Integrating trauma or early developmental experiences

  • Experiencing identity shifts or a sense of inner reorganization

  • Drawn to a therapeutic process that is slow, deep, and non-invasive

Because the work is extremely gentle, it is suitable for all stages of life, including sensitive or vulnerable periods.

Each session is different, shaped by what your system is ready for.

Clients often report experiences such as:

  • Deep relaxation and nervous system settling

  • A sense of grounding and embodiment

  • Emotional clarity or softening

  • Subtle shifts in long-held patterns

  • A feeling of wholeness or inner coherence

Changes often unfold gradually, integrating into daily life rather than arriving as dramatic breakthroughs.

“What is the body? That shadow of a shadow of your love, that somehow contains the entire universe.”
— Rumi

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy does not teach your body something new.
It helps you remember what has always been there.

I began offering this work online while assisting on a two-year Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy training that moved fully online during Covid. Through that experience, it became clear to me that nothing essential is lost when we work at a distance. The same listening, presence, and attunement are available, and for some people the absence of physical contact allows the nervous system to settle more easily. Online sessions offer a spacious, effective way to engage in this work, while in-person sessions remain equally valuable and supportive in their own right.

If you are seeking a form of therapy that honors depth, timing, and the intelligence of the body, this work may be a supportive companion.

If you’d like to explore working together, I offer a free 15-minute conversation to answer questions and sense whether this approach feels right for you.
